The Queensland Qualifier for the Australasian Piping Final was held last Monday at the Balmoral Bowls Club in Brisbane, in conjunction with the monthly meeting of the Queensland Highland Pipers' Society. The standard of piping was high and the event was enjoyed by a large crowd of spectators. Competitors were asked to play a 5-7min selection of tunes which had to include a 2/4 March, Strathspey, Reel, Air, Hornpipe and Jig in any order. The results were:

1st: Michael Redmond
2nd: Matthew Supranowicz
3rd: Darin Cook
Also competing were: Cory Dale, Bruce Grice and Jason Palfrey.
Judge: Tom McGirr

The three placegetters will now go on to represent Queensland in next year's Australasian Piping Final, which will also be held in Brisbane.
